Teacher training in network age.----Opportunity, Practice and Prospect

Presently, there is an undergoing information technology revolution in the whole world, the main sign of that is expanding application of multimedia technology and Internet technology. With the deep permeation of this revolution, the human society is stepping into information era. Today, the information technology developing with high speed and widespread application, which makes modern educational technology expand swiftly and violently, brings about profound transformation in education fields, and exerts influence far-reaching on educational notions, teaching method, teaching organization form and so on.
In accordance with the global tendency of educational technology application in education (namely, some scholars call that as educational informational phenomenon), the author deems that educational technology in new times should refers to making use of computer multimedia and network communication technologies comprehensively during the course of instruction. Now many counties in the world have regarded modern educational technology as a kind of catalysis to meet knowledge and economic challenge, to promote educational reformation.
Then in this new case, what kind of challenge brought up by information technology for teachers to face with? A qualified teacher in the future should not only have modern educational idea, possess steady professional knowledge and extensive knowledge range, but also know the certain educational science knowledge and master educational technology, as well as know how to perform modern educational technology to carry out creative instructional activity.
The technology of multimedia and computer network have applied in instruction extensively, which cause the emphasis of instruction transformed from “teaching” to “learning”, as well as the role of teachers transform from leader to guider or assistor in instruction. It is not appropriate that we still adopt traditional modes and continue using old instruction methods to training teacher, because these modes and methods haven’t accommodated the environments characterized by computer any longer. However, any new instructional idea and new instructional technology couldn’t do without teacher. The practice in the past has proved that any advanced technology and modern equipment would not take effect properly without teacher. While continue using old methods to training teacher has not meet the need of informational era, therefore teacher training is confronting the overall challenge of informational technology. In informational era, at informational campus, the teaching process, instructional modes, instructional contents and instructional methods of teacher training are all faced with entire reformation.
